The mission of the Plymouth River School Community in Hingham Public Schools, where children are treasured, is to foster a love of learning in an innovative, cooperative climate which empowers all students to be competent, productive, caring and responsible citizens.
Principal Melissa Smith and her staff have created a plan including activities to help celebrate Inclusive Schools Week. We hope this inspires your plans!

ISW 2018 Celebration Plans

K | Snowflakes/Snowpeople or “The best part of me” |
1 | Snowman/Snowflake activity “Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things but look at what they can do when they stick together.” |
2 | Heritage quilt – each student makes a paper square at home with families about their heritage and the quilt is displayed in the classroom. |
3 | Pilgrim doll discussions in class based on Molly’s Pilgrim/heritageReading of “Bad Case of Stripes” |
4 | “Miraculous Me” reflection and writing activity |
5 | “Unwrapping My Gifts!” – Activity that identifies students’ individual strengths and recognizes that everyone has different strengths. |
Art | Murals around the school.Adaptive drawing, examples of artists who are creating in new ways due to a disability |
Physical Education | Students will participate in activities as an individual with a physical disability…we will use blindfold for experience games a visually impaired individuals, use scooters to experience games as an individual who may have no use of their legs. |
Computer Science | Cyberbullying lessons that focus on celebrating our differences |
Spanish | If you really knew me |
Library | Everyone is One of Us |
Music | Discuss family traditions for special days |
