Theodore Roosevelt High School: A Global Studies Campus in DC Public Schools

Theodore Roosevelt High School, a Global Studies Campus in DC Public Schools, values all students’ unique talents and encourages and challenges students to become intellectually curious, world language proficient, internationally aware, and globally responsive.

Roosevelt High School is kicking off Inclusive Schools Week on Monday, December 6, 2021, with a mini-lesson on inclusion for their teachers.  A word wall on all three floors of the school will provide an opportunity for students and teachers to write about what inclusion means and how to put inclusion in action.  Bulletin boards in the school will spotlight the school’s diversity.

On Tuesday, December 7, the school will host a cultural and linguistic day showcasing student learning in different languages—Arabic, Spanish, and French.  Recognizing Abilities Day and LGBTQ Awareness will take place on December 8-9.

And, Inclusive Schools Week will conclude with the celebration of Unity Day on Friday, December 10.  Students will perform through song, dance, and spoken work what inclusion means to them.

The school’s vision is to engage students in an educational experience that fosters international understanding and welcomes diversity of thought, while preparing students for a globally interconnected world.
