Families are the most important people in their children's lives. The younger the child, the more critical it is for the teacher to have an effective relationship with the family in order to support the growth and development of the whole child. It is important to develop a reciprocal relationship where communication and respect go both ways. Focusing on a common goal is the best place to start developing this relationship. This training session addresses the following objectives:
Describe reciprocal family relationships and the importance of family involvement
Five steps for getting families involved
General strategies to support family involvement
Basic facts about transition
Collaborative transition practices
