Many children with disabilities struggle with writing assignments in school. Whether the difficulty lies with the physical act of writing (holding a pencil, using a keyboard, forming letters), writing mechanics (grammar and spelling) or getting thoughts onto paper, the integration of web tools into the learning environment can be a great way of beginning to address some of these issues.  Read more about online tools that can be used to make writing activities more accessible for all students.

CAST - UDL Lesson Builder

The Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) website hosts a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Lesson Builder that provides educators with models and tools to create and adapt lessons to increase access and participation in the general education curriculum for all students. ICARE School Study - "Kids with Cameras"

Connectedness (sometimes called “school engagement” or “school bonding”) is the attachment of students to their school and the belief that the adults in the school care about them and believe in their ability to succeed.  Kids with Cameras was used by the ICARE School Study to obtain information about what students connect with in the school and a verbal account of why each of these connections is important.  Read more about the ICARE Kids with Cameras Activity.
