  • 23rd Annual Institute on Disabilities
    June 2-6, 2010
    The Society for Disability Studies at Temple University will be holding its 23rd annual conference, from June 2nd - June 6th, on the campus of Temple University. The theme of this year's conference is "Disability in the Geo-Political Imagination". Speakers and participants will explore the disconnect that exists between popular representations of disability throughout the globe and politically-informed disability culture, with an aim to help the public sphere re-imagine contemporary understandings of disability. Topics that will be covered include: disabilities and the media, music and disabilities, transnational communities, and other critical issues salient on the local and international level.

  • Embracing Inclusive Approaches for Children and Youth with Special Education Needs - Riga, Latvia
    July 11-14, 2010
    Practitioners, researchers, policy makers, and NGOs from Europe, Central Asia, and North America will be joined by colleagues from around the globe to engage in lively and informed discussions about the current state of the expertise in meeting the needs of children and youth with special educational needs.   • High Performing, Inclusive Secondary Schools: A Leadership Institute, Hilton Back Bay, Boston, MA
    July 14-15, 2010
    The 2010 Program commences with a two-day summer institute and concludes with an online follow-up opportunity in the fall, resulting in team developed action plans. During the summer institute, participants will engage in lectures, learning activities, and action planning sessions. Content will build on knowledge and skills in effective strategies for inclusion at the secondary level and leadership development. Participants will complete action steps between the summer and the fall follow-up session and have the opportunity to share successes and problem-solve with faculty and peers. The follow-up session in the fall will include webinar discussion opportunities through the Inclusive Schools Network
